Seattle Indian Health Board to open Native-led substance use treatment center
11.27.2023
We’re excited about the progress the Seattle Indian Health Board (SIHB) is making towards opening their new inpatient substance use disorder treatment center on Vashon Island. SIHB, a nationally recognized organization that provides healthcare services for urban Native Americans, purchased the property for $11 million on March 31, 2023.
The Health Board plans to transform the VCC site into a 92-bed inpatient treatment center for substance abuse disorders, a critical step towards re-opening and expanding its Thunderbird Treatment Center, which had closed in 2019. The facility’s program will combine traditional Indian medicine and cutting-edge therapeutic programs, offering a powerful alternative to conventional treatment models.
We’re proud to have played a role in this important transaction and to help the SIHB achieve its goal of providing exceptional healthcare services to its relatives and the broader community.
